Welcome to Maharaj Rattery.
We are a small scale hobby breeder, based in Johannesburg, Gauteng.
Our primarly focus is on the Chocolate and Mink colour variety, markings range from Self to Variegated, Roan and Essex. We do on occasion have other colour varieties occuring within our lines, including Dove, Russian Blue, Cape Slate and Siamese.
We began our Breeding journey in 2015, with the aim to preserve and improve the Chocolate variety within South Africa, and as of July 2018 we are working with improving and preserving the Mink Variety.
IMPORTANT to note: There will be rats pictured under MHJ Resident Rats which are labelled as UNIDENTIFIED, this just means that we have yet to prove the genetics to be able to classify them correctly. We do not believe in classifying a rat by the colour expressed if we have not proven what colour variety or double dilute is truly expressed.
